LAGRANGE, Ga. – LaGrange (5-11, 0-0 CCS) softball returns home to open Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) action as they host Wesleyan (1-9, 0-0 CCS) in a doubleheader on Thursday, March 9. First pitch for the twinbill is set for 3 p.m.
The Panthers come in having gone 1-3 at the 16th Annual Grand Slam Softball Classic, falling to Mary Baldwin (6-0 on 3/4), Randolph (5-4 on 3/4) and Eastern Mennonite (11-0 on 3/5) while blanking Salem (11-0 on 3/5).
Wesleyan has dropped five in a row coming in, falling 7-3 to DIII Sewanee (2/19), 3-0 and 6-2 at NAIA Columbia College (2/24) and 5-2 and 11-0 at NCAA Division II Converse (2/25).
SERIES HISTORY
LaGrange holds a commanding 55-8 lead over Wesleyan in the all-time series, which dates to the beginning of an incredible 43-game winning streak. That stretch would run through 2003 and since then it has been more even with the Panthers holding only a 12-8 margin in that time. Recently the Wolves have taken five of the last six since a 6-2 win in 2021, a streak that includes 7-1 and 9-1 wins on April 16, 2022 in their last meeting.
