LAGRANGE, Ga. – LaGrange (16-5, 10-2 CCS) women's basketball faces a decisive weekend as they take on two of the best teams in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) with Berea (20-1, 12-0 CCS) and Belhaven (14-6, 8-4 CCS) coming to the Peach State on February 10-11. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively, in historic Mariotti Gym.
Having won 11 of their last 13, the Panthers find themselves still within striking distance of BC, who sports one of the best records in the country this season, for the inaugural CCS regular season championship. They will just about need to win out to overcome a two-game deficit and 81-59 loss to the Mountaineers earlier in the season.
Berea comes in having won 10 in a row, a stretch that dates back to January 3 with every single one by double-digits. Their lone loss of the season came to the current No. 2 team in the nation Transylvania (22-0) on December 30. Prior to that they won their first 10 games of the season with all but two of those by double-figures.
While not as long as the Mountaineers, Belhaven comes in riding a five-game win streak that dates to January 21 and includes two double-digit wins each over Covenant and Mississippi University for Women, along with a narrow 73-68 decision over Maryville (1/28).
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. BEREA
The clubs have met just nine times, all of that since the 2017-18 season, with LaGrange trailing 8-1. That includes seven straight to begin the series, a stretch that the Panthers would snap with a narrow 71-69 victory February 6, 2022. This season Berea earned the win in the first meeting by a score of 81-59 on January 7.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. BELHAVEN
The newest series in program history, the Panthers and Belhaven have met just once, that being a commanding 79-63 victory on January 14 of this year.
