Phone: 7068808771
Michael McCarty begins his first year as the Offensive Coordinator for the LaGrange College football team. Most recently, he was the Head Coach at his alma mater, Sumiton Christian High School. His offense at Sumiton Christian had one of the leading offenses in 1A football in 2017.

Before coaching at Sumiton Christian, he spent 2015 as the Head Coach at Point University, a NAIA Division I institution in the Sun Conference. In year one, he received the honor of being named Sun Conference Coach of the Year, after leading Point to a 9-2 regular season record and a perfect 5-0 mark against Sun Conference opponents. The Skyhawks, a year prior finished 1-9 overall and 0-5 in conference play. Under his leadership, the Skyhawks dominated Sun Conference opponents, winning four of their five conference games by 27 points or more. He also guided Point to their first conference win, their first NAIA top 25 ranking, finishing the year at No.17, their first appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series national playoffs, which also marks the first playoff appearance for a team from the Sun Conference, and set a school record for most wins in a single season in program history. Under Coach McCarty, Point ranked in the top 20 of the NAIA in several statistical categories in 2015, including passing efficiency (151.4), passing yards per game (265.5), total scoring offense (437), points per game (39.7), total offensive yards per game (435.9) and total sacks against (12). After scoring at least 40 points in just four games through the program's first three seasons combined, the Skyhawks scored at least 40 in six games in 2015.

Prior to Point University, McCarty coached college football at the University of West Alabama, a NCAA Division II institution in the Gulf South Conference from 2008-2015. He held responsibilities in multiple areas including coaching a position group and special team units, recruiting, game planning, football operations, admissions, financial aid, housing, and video operations. In 2013, UWA secured back-to-back Gulf South Conference Championships for the first time in school history. UWA set a combination of 22 Gulf South Conference and school single game and season records. The historic season also included 20 all-conference selections in 2013.
